2023/24 Season
From George Balanchine, Twyla Tharp and Alonzo King to extraordinary world premieres, journey through a century of ballet. Plus, the return of Swan Lake!
George Balanchine changed how dance was created, taught and perceived when he came to America. Our season starts during the year marking the 40th anniversary of his death.
MCB is a company rooted in the tradition of George Balanchine. Both our founding Artistic Director, Edward Villella and current Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez were trained and mentored by Balanchine and the works we perform and create are all linked inextricably to him.
With this vision in mind, we have anchored each of the upcoming season’s programs with a George Balanchine masterwork; a late 20th century or early 21st century work; and a new work by an emerging generation of diverse choreographers.
Following this lively look at the past and future of the art form, we will stage our fabulous reimagining of Alexei Ratmansky’s Swan Lake, a 2022 season hit. We are thrilled, too, to present George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®, a sparkling production celebrating the holidays with a hint of Miami glow.
Please join us for a season that is filled with the best and most joyous of our past, present and future.
