Katia Carranza joins MCBS Faculty

Katia Carranza graduated from the Superior School of Music and Dance of Monterrey in 1996 and later joined the Ballet de Monterrey (BdM) as a soloist, where she spent a year. In 1998, she moved to Miami and joined the Miami City Ballet (MCB) as a corps de ballet dancer. She quickly rose to soloist in 2001, principal soloist in 2003 and the following year she was promoted to principal dancer.
From 2007 to 2014, Carranza returned to the Monterrey Ballet as principal dancer and remained a principal guest artist at MCB, dancing in both companies simultaneously. She returned to BdM full-time for a few years, until 2017, when she went back to Miami to dance exclusively with MCB. She has danced in various galas in Mexico, Italy, Brazil, Spain, Canada and the United States. In 2020, El Nuevo Herald named her dancer of the year.
Katia Carranza joins the MCBS as principal faculty.
Katia started teaching in the Summer Program 2024 and she will teach the Student Division and Pre-Professional levels. Katia will also be one of the main ambassadors to our Latin America students and schools.
