Matilda Solis
Matilda Violet Solis was born in San Francisco, California. She started her training at the age of ten at Ballet Austin under the direction of Jennifer Hart and Chelsea Marie Katz. She performed in Ballet Austin’s Nutcracker and was a member of the Tremaine Performance Team.
Matilda attended summer intensive programs at Ballet Austin, Pacific Northwest Ballet and received scholarships to attend summer programs with Miami City Ballet School and the School of American Ballet. She began her intensive ballet training at the age of thirteen with Paul and Maria Mejia and Michelle Gifford and performed in corps de ballet roles in the Mejia Nutcracker. At fourteen, she moved to Miami to attend MCB School full-time as a scholarship student and was featured in the end-of-year performance of George Balanchine’s Tarantella and Pas de Dix. Matilda then moved to New York City to train full-time at the School of American Ballet.
Matilda was offered an apprenticeship at age seventeen with Carolina Ballet where she trained with Debra Austin and performed a principal role in an original piece choreographed by Zalman Raffael.
Matilda joined MCB as a corps de ballet member in 2021.
