Joan Latham

Rehearsal Director

Joan Latham joined Miami City Ballet in 1992 as a dancer and is now a Rehearsal Director, responsible for staging and rehearsing much of the Company’s repertoire. In addition to maintaining the Company’s ballets, she has worked with renowned choreographers including Alexei Ratmansky, Liam Scarlett, Justin Peck, Pam Tanowitz, and Annabelle Lopez Ochoa during the creation of new works.

A native of San Francisco, Joan began her training with Damara Bennett at City Ballet School and went on to study at Pacific Northwest Ballet School, where she also performed and toured with the company. As a Soloist with Miami City Ballet, she danced a wide range of featured roles in George Balanchine’s repertory, including Apollo, Symphony in C, Agon, Divertimento No. 15, Scotch Symphony, Valse Fantaisie, and the “Sugarplum Fairy” in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker®. She was also featured in works by Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, and Edward Villella, as well as classics such as Swan Lake, Giselle, and Coppélia.
