SUMMARY
Miami City Ballet, under the new direction of Gonzalo Garcia, is one of the most renowned ballet companies in the United States. Founded in 1985 by Miami philanthropist Toby Lerner Ansin and Founding Artistic Director and ballet legend Edward Villella, MCB is considered a leader in the field – nurturing new choreographic voices, creating innovative collaborations and opening new avenues of inclusivity within classical ballet. Our repertory of more than 100 ballets, including over a dozen world premieres, was built upon the Balanchine repertory, style and technique. It has been expanded to include beloved classical works of importance, as well as exciting new choreography by contemporary and ground-breaking artists.
The Physical Therapist position is a part-time role focused on evaluating and treating primarily MCB dancers, with occasional services for students and staff. This role involves planning and administering physical therapy treatments to prevent injuries, restore function, manage pain, and promote the dancers' overall health and fitness.
The Physical Therapist will determine if a worker's compensation claim needs to be filed and will communicate with staff regarding this process. They will develop personalized treatment plans, recommend medical specialists, and provide exercise techniques to enhance the dancers' health.
Additionally, the Physical Therapist must maintain treatment notes, communicate with staff about the dancers' injury-related limitations, perform administration work, and coordinate treatment plans and diagnoses with physicians.
The position will require a minimum of 40 weeks of work, which will be finalized at the beginning of the contract period. The Physical Therapist will report directly to Gonzalo Garcia, Artistic Director; Lily McCrossin, Lead Physical Therapist; and Lina Aguirre, Human Resources Director, regarding matters related to the employment contract.
The ideal candidate will possess a warm and collaborative demeanor, positive energy, and a sense of humor. They should also be organized, effectively prioritize tasks, and be self-motivated in their work. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the Physical Therapist will need to interact comfortably with various individuals throughout the organization. Additionally, this person must demonstrate genuine empathy and an understanding of the dancers' needs and sensitivities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide physical therapy diagnoses through appropriate patient evaluation.
- Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent/emergent situations and determine a safe level of participation or referral to a specialist.
- Develop individualized treatment plans for dancers, including, but not limited to, exercises, stretching, modalities, and hands-on therapy to restore function.
- Maintain patient records and their confidentiality.
- Educating patients and staff regarding injuries and their impact on dance rehearsal and performance.
- Coordinate the plan for a dancer returning to dance with MCB staff and various outside medical professionals.
- Develop dance medicine resources, and collaborating with MCB’s Artistic Health Department team members.
- Keep the treatment areas neat and organized.
- Perform administrative work.
- Complies with the Florida State Physical Therapy Act, codes, and regulations.
Hours and Workdays
- Minimum of 40 work weeks per season (July 1 - April 1st). The exact schedule is to be determined by February.
- Working hours are 25 hours weekly. $50 overtime will be added for additional hours.
- The hours and workdays are typically 2:30 PM to 7:30 PM most work weeks—variable during performance season.
- Rehearsal weeks- generally Mondays through Fridays
- Treatment times usually are 5 hours daily, including a 30-minute lunch break, but may vary slightly; additional time may be needed for emergencies and to accomplish required duties.
- Performance weeks - 6 days a week, depending on venue.
- A company physical therapist will be expected to remain in the theater for each performance, usually three evenings per week. Matinees are similarly covered in a shared manner. Additional time may be needed for emergencies and to accomplish required duties.
- Touring weeks - will vary from year to year.
- Accommodation, transportation, and per diem are provided for all tour weeks outside of Miami.
- Vacation coverage weeks will require fewer hours than a typical rehearsal week but will include at least one or two days a week.
Core Qualifications
- Fully licensed and insured evidence-based Doctor of Physical Therapy in the State of Florida.
- At least 3 years of PT experience preferred.
- Current CPR Certification.
- Experience working with dancers and/or professional athletes preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A skilled manual therapist with sound knowledge of therapeutic exercises to restore function.
- Compassion and empathy for patients who are often in pain and anxious about their future dancing careers.
- Attention to detail regarding a patient's problems to analyze what they need to alleviate their pain and reduce the risk of further injury.
- Physical stamina for manual work on patients and long hours standing and demonstrating exercises.
- Communication skills to interact clearly with doctors, artistic staff members, and patients.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

SUMMARY
This position is responsible for facilitating the physical fulfillment of the Artistic vision for all company and MCB School performances. This role is also responsible for overseeing and managing all theatre operations from load-in to rehearsal, performance and load out, and for the safe operations of all facility and theatre activity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Direct the preparation, creation, maintenance, repair, installation, and operation of all theatrical equipment.
- Hire, manage, and supervise full-time, seasonal, part-time, contracted, Union and Production staff. Serve as primary interface with all venue-provided labor.
- Create all technical drawings and paperwork necessary for the installation of the productions into and out of the theatre. With the General Manager, negotiate and manage all Scenic, Lighting, Sound and Special Effects design and consultant contracts. Negotiate and manage all lighting equipment, scenic construction, and equipment transportation as well as purchase and rental activities.
- Assist the Production Stage Manager in the creation of the general Production Schedule for each main stage production. Manage all staff in the achievement of that schedule.
- Create and track annual operating budget for the Production Department. Oversee the accounting and reporting of Production department finances. Review, approve, and track all accounts payable for Production department invoices and payroll.
- Create all technical drawings necessary for the bidding for and/or construction of any new production. Oversee, manage, and actively create any new scenery, prop, road box or storage crate construction.
- Provide Company Manager any necessary logistical and technical information necessary for the pursuit of international and domestic touring engagements. Author Technical Riders for all international and domestic touring.
- Responsible for warehouse/workshop operations and the safe storage, maintenance and inventory of all physical production equipment therein.
- Act as reference, advisor, and facilitator to all departments in areas of production, i.e. special events, marketing, development, and community engagement events requiring technical support, transportation, permitting, or Company or School dancers, both inside and outside the company’s facilities.
- Other duties as assigned by General Manager and Artistic Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of five years related field experience in theatrical technical production with some experience in a major national performing arts center at the equivalent scale (in terms of crew, lighting, scenery, etc.) of Miami City Ballet productions
- Touring experience highly preferred

JOB SUMMARY
The Audience Services Representative (ASR) is the first point of customer contact and is responsible for providing the customer with the best impression of the Miami City Ballet. Remote work is available throughout the year when no onsite or in-venue service activations occur.
Key responsibilities include delivering excellent customer care for all customers and prospects of MCB:
- Managing inquiries and communications with customers across several communication channels.
- Acknowledge and resolve customer concerns and complaints.
- Knowledgeable about the MCB as an organization, familiarity with the company of dancers, our season, and events/performances inside and out to answer questions
- Communicate and coordinate with colleagues as necessary
- Provide ongoing feedback on the efficiency of the customer service process
- Keep records of customer interactions, transactions, comments and complaints.
- Process orders, forms, modifications and escalations
- Fulfill and generate ticket sales, subscriptions and payments
To do well in this role, the ASR must be customer-centric and service-oriented with a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward customers at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Relationship management
Take and fill ticket orders for individual ticket purchases over the telephone and at the box office window.
- Respond promptly and thoroughly to customer inquiries; Resolve customer complaints efficiently and strive to deliver customer satisfaction
- Build rapport, on-going relationships, and credibility with customers by delivering consistent and excellent customer care, anticipating their needs (and objectives of the customer) and initiate any service recovery.
- Understand and provide information: seating, prices, fees, and sections of multiple venues, as well as parking options and directions and related information to help provide optimal customer experience.
- Provide customers insight and updates on the season, programs, and various subscription package and product options, in order to increase sales, engagement and/or customer service.
- Explain provide upgrade options and fill orders for interested patrons.
- Assist patrons/subscribers with ticket exchanges.
- Provide assistance and support for ticketing matters for internal department needs.
Data Management
- Process all transactions through Tessitura.
- Create and maintain accurate customer data in Tessitura.
- Provide daily payment settlements to management; ensure final report balances credit cards, cash, and check transactions.
- Filling in CSI’s to capture customer feedback after shows, etc.
Other:
- Prepare tickets for mailing or will call as needed.
- Correspond with customers via email, phone or any other written documentation is imperative.
- Contribute and assist in various CR-related administrative tasks and duties to support smooth-running CR operations.
- Work collaboratively with organizational colleagues across the organization.
- Share frontline customer feedback with Marketing and Development team as appropriate.
On-site service:
- Provide customer/subscriber and relationship management support on performance weekends and locations.
- Provide clerk duties at the MCB Store, both on-location and at various performance venues.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Miami City Ballet’s Director of Community Engagement and the Dance Education Programs Manager, Teaching Artists are practicing artists in Dance, Arts Education, and Performing Arts committed to working with young people of varied abilities. Miami City Ballet’s Community Engagement programs, including STEAM+, Explore Dance, M.C.B.’s Masterclass Series, and Miami City Ballet’s Palm Beach Summer Dance Camp, bring high-quality arts enrichment to the youth of South Florida by working through established after-school and year-round programs at Miami-Dade County Title I Public Schools, Partnering Community Organizations, K-12 Performing Arts Schools as well as Performing Arts magnet schools.
Applicants must demonstrate expertise working as professional dance teaching artists, the ability to set choreography for students of varied abilities, basic curriculum standards to teach Ballet Fundamentals, Creative Movement practices, the ability to produce Culminating Event performances, experience in lesson planning and arts integration curriculum writing, strong communication, and interpersonal skills, facilitating group decision-making, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, and strong attention to detail.

SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION:
This is an independent contractor position. Applicants must have availability to work during and after school hours, on occasional weekends, and during the day in the summers. Teaching Artists should have the ability to travel throughout the South Florida tri-county region to various residency sites. A full residency ranges between 5-25 weeks (according to each program) and ends in a culminating performance. Teaching Artists earn $50/hour to instruct and $25/hour for lesson planning, and mileage reimbursement for instruction provided outside of Miami-Dade County.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:
Direct instruction with students in Kinder-12th Grade using guidelines of the Florida Arts Standards, MDCPS STEAM+ Rubric, and Miami City Ballet Fundamentals Curriculum. Planning and executing arts programming appropriate for specific age groups, attending professional development workshops and meetings, and carrying out administrative responsibilities (such as submitting written lesson plans, student pre-and post-assessments, timecards, student evaluations, and other duties as assigned). TAs selected for employment must also attend a 3-day training session held at Miami City Ballet from September 28th – 30th, 2022.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum (4) years of teaching experience and substantial training in Dance Education. Strong content knowledge in classical ballet, performance, and stage work. Commitment to serving children in typically under-represented communities. Must be culturally competent to work with a diverse student body and students with special needs. Must be adaptable to instruction in non-traditional dance spaces. Excellent verbal and written commutation skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills with adults and children. Instructors with proficiency in Spanish are encouraged to apply. Instructors with varied dance genre teaching experience with a strong ballet foundation are welcome to apply.
